Michael Polychronopoulos is a nature photographer from Melbourne, Australia. He has qualifications in civil engineering and groundwater hydrology and a passion for exploring natural environments, particularly alpine environments.

His collection of photos predominantly cover Alaska, western Canada, New Zealand and Australia’s southern and southeastern regions.

The majority of his photos were taken using large format 4 x 5 inch film cameras (Linhof Technika IV and Ebony RW45) with Rodenstock and Fujinon lenses. To a lesser extent, he also used a medium format Hasselblad 503CW and a 35 mm Nikon FE film camera. His choice of film has been fujichrome velvia and he has recently begun exploring digital technology.

He hopes his photos will raise an awareness of the importance and an appreciation of wilderness and the natural world. His drawings have been sporadic over the years, but also aim to highlight this message.
